Restaurant TeoChew House of Tim Sum

Who hasn't spend a relaxing Sunday morning at their favorite Chinese restaurant sipping tea and feasting on numerous delicacies of Chinese Dim Sum? SO, my aunt's family is here and I brought them to Restaurant Teo Chew House of Tim Sum for breakfast....Why did I choose here? Well, it's because of the location actually... and this is my first visit too.

Restaurant Teo Chew House of Tim Sum

Preparing Porridge- Various types of porridge

Roasted pork (siu yuk) counter

About dim sum
Originally, dim sum begins with the custom of yum cha (drink tea) by the Cantonese. In the olden days, travelers of the ancient Silk Road will stop by rest houses for nap and tea. Hence tea houses were built along the road and most tea houses serves light dishes which is currently known as dim sum.

Therefore dim sum is the name of the Chinese cuisine where numerous number of light dishes is served alongside with Chinese tea. However, dim sum served in the modern days are no longer light as described, due to the development of the culinary of art of dim sum.

Some of our orders- Not much pics taken, you know, their hands after faster than mine~lol~

Herbal Soup @ Keong Kei Poh Ban

Heading back home from work everyday, I will pass by this stall. I noticed that this place is always crowded even at the early evening. Out of curiosity, I asked my colleagues about the this stall and I was told that this stall serves delicious herbal soup. A month ago, I stopped by and looked at the menu displayed, I noticed there are actually serving wildlife dishes and soups so I drove off. The next day, I confirmed with my fellow colleagues again and they told me there are other choices of soups. Still curious and wanting to try.........I visited Keong Kei after work twice this week.

Keong Kei Poh Ban @ Changkat Thambi Dollah

Keong Kei is famous for their double boiled herbal soups and other wildlife dishes. If you are someone who enjoys soup, this is a place that you might be interested to stop by for a bowl of delicious, tasty and nourishing herbal soup.

Something about double boiling

Flip through some recipe books and you will bump into phrases like " double boil". So what does double boiling means?

Double boiling is a cooking technique to prepare delicate food. All the ingredients to prepare the food are placed into a ceramic jar and then the jar will be steamed for several hours. The double boiling also known as double steaming technique is normally used in preparing herbal soups as the technique of preparing will maintain the nourishment(essences) of the soup.

Double boiled herbal chicken soup in coconut @ RM 7.50
Soup is sweet and steaming hot. Tried this during my first visit and the soup tasted pleasant with the sweetness of the coconut. The chicken meat were soft and coated with the taste of herbs.

Double Boiled Ginseng Roots with Chicken Soup @ RM 5.00
Soups were prepared with hairs of ginseng roots and tasted slightly bitter .I tried a spoon and that's enough.~lol~ I don't like the taste but I guess it's nourishing and tonifying.Ginseng is a herb that helps to replenish "qi".

Double Boiled Dried squids Lotus Root Soup @ RM 5.00
An all time chinese favorite soup which helps to dispell internal heat. Older lotus root is used as it taste better for preparing soups. I don't like the pungent smell of dried squids sometimes as it may covered the original taste of the soup. Keong kei serves a good Lotus Root Soup, although dried squids is one of the ingredient used, the smell of the dried squids and the lotus root soup were just nice!

Double boiled Herbal Chicken Soup @ RM 5.00
Taste of the soup?- Must ask Ah Choy!

Curry wild boar @ RM 5.00

Pork belly with preserved mustard cabbage @ RM 5.00

Keong Kei serves two excellent dishes which is the curry wild boar and the pork belly preserved mustard cabbage. As for the curry wild boar, the meat were soft and tender. I wonder how they prepare the dish. A lot of meat tenderizer I assume?

Pork belly with preserved mustard cabbage, my all time favorite dish! Added another kick* to my dinner!

Iceberg Lettuce @ RM 5.50

Not everyone has the luxury time to prepare herbal double boiled soup. I believe the soups prepared by Keong Kei are free from preservatives and artificial flavorings. Keong Kei serves delicious double boiled herbal soup which is a place that you wouldn't want to miss!

Restaurant Inner Mongolia

Slept for long hours and when I woke up....all of the sudden my I craved for spicy food. Something wrong
somewhere and it is already 9 pm. Where to go for spicy soupy food at this hour? To Wen's Chinatown Restaurant again? No no....I want try it at some other restaurant! Decided to try the hot and spicy steamboat
( 麻辣火锅 ) at Restaurant Inner Mongolia.

Restaurant Inner Mongolia, serves steamboat and other ala carte dishes
I guess it's my lucky day. They are extending their earlier promotion until 31/10/08. Blah blah ...I don't know how to read and to lazy to analyze one word by another, all I knew is .....they are having this buffet promotion at RM 33++ per person. Choose the soup base, order the raw ingredients as much as you like and choices of your beverages.
Although, you can order as much as you like....but don't be too greedy, cause as usual all restaurants which serves steamboat buffet do charge certain fees for foods that goes wasted!
Soup base wise, the herbal soup is great in taste and the hot & spicy soup is actually the same soup based as the herbal soup, they added chilly oil, peppers and some other herbs to make this soup. Well, the spicy soup based is definitely not as tasty as spicy as the one served in Wen's Chinatown. The beautiful layer of oil on top of the spicy soup base is as beautiful as the one served in Wen's Chinatown though.

The exotic ingredients of the soup based and the aroma of the soup tantalized my tastebud! A great late dinner~~

麻辣火锅 @ Wen's Chinatown Restaurant

Why 2nd April 2008? Because.......I don't know, I just feel like blogging...Hmmmm...where to start? Actually as usual, it's a working day. It's just that, this week itself, the mood of working is not there.

Went out for lunch with Jessie and Lee today to have 麻辣火锅 @ Jln Chang Kak Tambi Dollah, Off Jln Pudu....restaurant name Wen's Chinatown Restaurant....Yummy! Yummy..........

There is a heavy pour today and by 6.30pm, I start receiving SMS and calls and also through MSN that several roads are flooded and the traffic is very jam. At first I thought to knock off early today, but seems like even if I knocked off early, I will reached home only few hours later. Then, I stayed back in the office until 8 p.m.

I was the only one who stay back today excluding the Client Service team. While crossing the pedestrian bridge to Times Square, I did the same thing...passing by the gift shop, I was finding whether they have white roses today. Nope.....no again. When I was in Times Square itself, I saw a couple holding each other as if there is no tomorrow. Envied......continue walking...took the escalator to ground floor...

Walk walk walk...walking slowly and all of the sudden I feel so lonely, as if there is nobody around me.. so empty in me. Perhaps is the classical music played by Times Square that sounds sad and maybe because of that I felt so... I just continue walking and do the same thing everyday, to lower ground, pay the parking fee then to B2 for my car.

Blur and funny part
From B2 I drove up to B1, then I inserted the car park ticket to exit to lower ground. I was on the phone at that point in time...and then...I do not know why....I stopped my car at lower ground and start getting nervous! Hahahahaha....I was looking for my car park ticket, thought I lost it which in fact, I already exit to lower ground. Already exit!!! For 5 minutes I was searching for the ticket! Oh gosh........am I supposed to laugh or feeling stupid?

Bored part
Although I knocked off late, although the rain has gone, But it's still jam.....

Guilty part
I almost reached home, while driving ...I saw a frog jumping hard to cross the road, too bad....I ran over it....mati katak!!!

Finally, am sitting down here chatting with Jessie. Her stomachache......ma lat ma lat...this can be included in the guilty part as well...cause I suggested the lunch.

Time to sleep................
