勘八 Kampachi @ Pavilion KL

Kampachi, a signature Japanese restaurant by Hotel Equatorial group with a widespread reputation that you can't resist!

Kampachi_1

Kampachi by Equatorial @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur
The restaurant offers varieties of fine Japanese food selection ranging from bento set , teppan style dining, soba and udons as well as mouth watering sushi. How I wish I could stomach everything!!!

Kampachi_3
Sawara Saikyoyaki @ RM 32.00
Beautifully grilled mackerel served with rice, miso soup, chawan mushi.
Sawara refers to the king of mackerel and saikyoyaki is actually the Japanese Miso Marinade which is used as the seasoning before grilling. Great!

FYI: It is believed that grilled seafood are served with lemon to cut the oiliness.

Kampachi_4

Soba/Udon & Tendon @ RM 38.00
I have opted for soba in soup instead of cold soba. The set comes with soba, grilled salmon and rice topped with deep fried prawns and vegetables (tendon, refers to tempura rice set/bowl). Soba noodles was great!- Fine in texture ,good in taste! Enjoyed the delicately grilled salmon very much. And the rice with sticky soy sauce and deep fried succulent prawns was good too!! A pleasant choice indeed.

Kampachi_10

Fuka Hire Chawan Mushi @ RM 15.00
Steamed egg with shark fins, smooth and silky texture- absolutely delicious!

Kampachi_11

Tempura Ice Cream @ RM 15.00

I was very full by the end of the meal, but still, I wanna try this! Fried bread wrapped with a layer of mixed nuts and vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry. Hot outside, cold inside!

Too bad, no more space for sushi in my tummy. Ahhhhh............Blurp!!!

Pretty satisfying! Nice ambience, delicious and fine Japanese food.

Saffron Mediterranean Bistro

The word Mediterranean derives from a Latin word "
mediterraneus" meaning "in the middle of earth". If it is seen from the geographic point of view, the name Mediterranean means the sea being surrounded by the land. Refer to the world map to know more

What about Mediterranean Cuisine? I guess it's about food of the areas around Mediterranean Sea.So, I visited Saffron Mediterranean Bistro with the gift voucher sponsored by Tanjung Rhu Resort Langkawi for our staff party. This is the new outlet which is located in a new area named Solaris, Mont Kiara and this is my first time visiting to Solaris. I am so outdated

Saffron Mediterranean Bistro @ Solaris, Mont Kiara

Berry Choc @ RM 9.00, Amaretto Freddo @ RM 9.00 & Pineapple Juice @ RM 7.00 (left to right)

Cream of Wild Mushrooms @ RM 8.00 & Seafood Garlic Soup @ RM 8.00
Berenjenas al Andalusia @ RM 12.00 & Pollo de Ajillo @ RM 12.00

The drinks and tapas doesn't please us much. Time took to serve the drinks were too long. Where is our capucinno? As for soup, it's just normal. Nothing much to comment. For delicious tapas, consider Sentidos Tapas @ KL Plaza!

Chicken Quesadillas @ RM18.00

Spiced Prawn Quesadillas @ RM 18.00

Spiced prawn and chicken quesadillas, were served with grilled tortilla (a plain round flour cake) wrapping spiced prawn/ chicken, tomatoes, red beans, jalapeno (chilli pepper) and pineapple. The dish is served with 3sauces which is salsa sauce, sour cream and guacamole (mashed avocado). The chicken quesadillas tasted good with humble portion of grilled chicken wrapped with tortillas but the spiced prawn quesadillas, I can hardly see the prawns. A tasteful spanish dish!

Cod with Pimientos @ RM 35.00
Pan fried Cod Fish with zucchini, bell peppers and asparagus served with roasted pimientos sauce and sweet potatoes. Although it's pan fried, the juiciness of the fish is maintained. The tastiness and freshness of the fish makes this dish a highly pleasing one.

Latino Chicken Fajitas @ RM 18.00
Marinated chicken grilled to perfection served on hot plate with sauteed onion, bell peppers and vegetables salsa sauce. Together the tortillas, salsa sauce, sout cream and guacamole were served. You may wrap the chicken fajitas with tortillas and sauces. The Chicken Fajitas were well marinated and it's delectable!!

Ala Carbonara @ RM 18.00
For me, a delicious carbonara should be creamy and yet light in taste. This is definitely a satisfying Carbonara I have tried. It's creamy but light in taste, spaghetti served with bacon, mushrooms, grated parmesan cheese and egg yolk.

Well, I expected some special Mediterranean cuisine but dishes served by Saffron Mediterranean Bistro were just some normal dishes. I guess Mediterranean cuisine means the cuisines from different countries surrounding the Mediterannean Sea. For a restaurant which is classified as fine dining, the food qualities were considered average but satisfying but could be much better. Maybe, it's still very new......Work harder ya!!

Café Café @ Jalan Maharajalela, Kuala Lumpur

Each time while I was on my way back from work, I will passed by Café Café and I was wondering who the hell will go to such cafe? A cafe at a corner of a shop lot without proper parking and access route.
The location of the restaurant seems not right!

Well....I am the one who is not right!

As usual, I go online to search for places to dine , and I found this website and http://www.cafecafekl.com/cuisine.htm and the next thing I do is to fix a day to dine in Café Café.

Café Café
Classic decorations- Chandelier, cottage style cabinets, Victorian style curtains & my favorite white roses

Stepped inside this old shop and you will immediately feel that you have been transported to a spirit and sophistication of France. Café Café an elegant and cozy rendezvous reminiscent of a comfortable and intimate ambiance of Parisian/French style, a perfect venue that you can savor the traditional authentic French cuisine surrounded by warm glow of candlelight amidst of classic wooden and rustic setting.

Here is my so called "candlelight dinner".......went there after work the other day..........to celebrate the King's Birthday

Duck Confit @ RM 45-(French confit de canard) one of their signature dish, duck leg prepared by poaching it in its own fat, and grilled slowly in a low temparature. It's a bit greasy but the duck skin is thin and yet crispy with a slight salt and garlic taste of the meat. Dish is served with potatoes. A good choice for duck meat lovers or those who like to try something different.

And the here comes my Seafood Spaghetti @ RM 38, a special dish indeed, this is one of their recommended pasta, spaghetti with fresh lime taste and generous servings of seafood- scallops, prawns, squids and mussel sprinkled with almond flakes.

Chocolate cake-White Truffle @ RM 38, A thick rounded slab of chocolate cake with hot dark melted chocolates in it, served with a scoop of Haagen Daaz. An irresistible dessert!

Café Café is definitely not a restaurant that spent all their money only on the decor, it is indeed a charming and romantice restaurant for fine dining with quality food and service. Must try!! And if you wanna try... do invite me along
