Restaurant Tin Sum 點心之家@ OUG, Old Klang Road

Morning Everyone!! What's for breakfast on a lovely Sunday?

Hhhmmmm....dim sum would be good? But, where to?

Here's a suggestion- Restaurant Tin Sum 點心之家 at Taman OUG, Old Klang Road, a dim sum house runs by a Fu Chow family! Definitely a good one!

Do expect a big crowd here or it's either earlier or later that you can easily find a table. Anyway, it won't take too long to wait too.

Nai Harn Beach

While heading down, my colleague make a stop at Nai Harn beach for a walk along the beach....and I spotted this:-

3

A foot print left by a stranger- LACOSTE!

4

Happy families and tourist having splendid time enjoying the view and calmness of the shore.

5

Okay.. it says no swimming here! It's alright, they are enjoying...

My colleague is taking a day off to take me around, very much appreciated indeed! She took me to Phong Phang Seafood at Palai Bay, Chalong for dinner after a stroll down Nai Harn beach.

Promthep Cape, Phuket

Promthep Cape, a headland stretching to the sea forming a south end of island forming a best spot for a perfect view of the sun disappearing from the horizon.

Spent some time enjoying the scenic view and photo snapping at Promthep Cape and start heading down to Chalong for seafood dinner passing by Nai Harn Beach.

Black Canyon Coffee @ Cental Festival Phuket

Straight from airport to Central Festival Phuket! Yea, was there to get something done for my colleague and then a lunch at Black Canyon, a famous coffee house in Thailand.

We have few outlets in Malaysia too!! Good one!

Evason Phuket & Bon Island @ Rawai beach, Phuket

My stay at Evason Phuket & Bon Island by Sixth Senses Resorts & Spas for business trip earlier this year. I supposed it was the second time staying at this hotel. A luxurious hotel indeed! Am happy that I was placed there.

0

The lobby lounge at the main entrance with four booth as reception/check in & out counter

1

Entrance of the hotel as if walking through a short tunnel then passing by a souvenir shop at the left and the business centre at the right. The souvenir shop offers special spa & personal care products.

Buggies ever ready- waiting at the entrance for guest to travel around the resort- to the pools and restaurants.

2

Checked into the room- Let's see what welcomes me! Yea- a beautiful welcome note by the resort. Something sweet fruits after the long day, booklets introducing the resort, menu, spa and personal care notes printed in orangy paper.

Guest what? I have just found out (after my Chiang Mai trip) that Six Senses Destination Spa Phuket supports the Elephant Conservation Center by using Elephant Dung Paper. - Environmentally friendly!

3

Cozy and comfortable room with four large cushion pillow and extremely soft comforters.

3a

Huge bath room with two basins, one at the left and another at the right. Being crazy, I thought I should try using all of it and so, I brushed my teeth at the left basin in the morning and then at the right one at night! Don't laugh......

And also there is a huge tub with spa & personal care products provided. Nice!

5

Upon checking in, there is a little pocket size map provided by the hotel and each room is equipped with a torch light and an umbrella. If you don't wanna go on a buggy, do enjoy wandering around if you don't mind walking.

6

Into the View restaurant @ Night

At Evason Phuket, there are a few restaurants and bar. Named as:

Into Pondering( Lobby Bar & Wine Tasting) - had my welcome drink here!
Into the View restaurant
Into the Med
Into Upper Spirits Bar & Into Lower Spirits Bar
Into Thai & Wine Cellar
Into the Beach

7

Into Thai & Wine cellar ( on the left) , At the room (on the right)

8

An appetizing plate of Pad Thai @ RM 40 - enjoy dining in the room with some Thai TV shows

9

Cam whoring before pampering myself with a spa bath.

4

Woke up early for breakfast at Into the View Restaurant with a breathtaking view of the Andaman Sea. A relaxing start before heading to the office.

Evason Phuket & Bon Island, Thailand, a 64 acres luxurious resorts set with beautiful landscape and beauteous Andaman sea view is definitely a recommended stay.

Amazing Thailand!! Phuket

PHUKET, the largest island of Thailand is one of the southern provinces of Thailand.

The island is about the size of Singapore, running from 48 kilometers (34 miles) north to south and 21 kilometers (16 miles) east to west, situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea.

Google Map

Neighboring provinces of Phuket are Phang Nga and Krabi and the island is connected to mainland Thailand by two bridges.

Famous beaches in Phuket:

Surin Beach
Kamala Beach
Patong Beach*
Karon Beach*

Racha Island
Naka Island
Rang Yai Island

Each time when I am flying to Phuket, it reminds me of my childhood. Yes, been there while I was 9 years old? Anyway, we used to travel very often to Had Yai & Southern Thai very often at that time, tagging along with dad while he traveled up North for business.

My recent visits are short, am planning to travel to Phuket again in 2011, a longer stay perhaps.

And of course, water activities!!- Have not been to any as yet!
Funny, ain't it? I was there twice in 2009 for business trip and once, in 2010 for holiday!

Popular water sports

Sailing
Yatching
Diving
Wind surfing
Scuba diving
Snorkeling
Swimming

Bye Bye Chiang Mai !! & I WISH......

Another picture to share!

051

Tuk tuks at Northern Thai are different comparing to the Southern Thai version

We slept well on the day after our Chiang Rai & Laos trip. All packed and ready for an early flight back to Malaysia the next day.

...... It's time to bid goodbye....

052

A cup for her and a cup for me- Cappuccino @ Black Canyon Chiang Mai Airport Boarding room

053

Bye bye Chiang Mai!! Nice place, nice people & nice food.... I will be back for more!

Enjoyed the trip to Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai ! Four days trip is too short and I have an addition to my wish list.

I wish to revisit Northern Thai for another exploration- would like to stay a few days at Doi Mae Salong with the locals/ mix hill tribes to enjoy and feel their simple lifestyle.....aaaahhh... Beautiful!!!

May your wish comes true Lu Shia!!

Mae Sai Market @ Northernmost of Chiang Rai province

After Laos, the last stop would be Mae Sai before heading back to Chiang Mai. Another 30- 40 minutes drive with picturesque scenic route. and before reaching Mae Sai, we were taken to a local jade shop for shopping.

Mae Sai is a district located at the top of the North (northernmost) of Chiang Rai province. The Mae Sai town would be the border crossing to Myanmar between Thailand & Myanmar- just like from Malaysia to Haadyai at Bukit Kayu Hitam/Changloon border.

050

The custom to travel across and some picture of the market

Do enjoy wandering and shopping along the busy market- full of jade and gemstones, cheap products from China and plenty of food! Shop till you drop or eat to glory!

And the long journey back to Chiang Mai begins.........we had our dinner at another local restaurant half way through the journey. Everyone was running out of energy.

We will need to pack as for the early flight tomorrow.

Chiang Mai Trip to Laos- right across the river!

After lunch at on of the local restaurant situated along Mekong River, we headed to Chiang Saen. The tour guide informed us that there are optional tours to Laos and Myamar with extra fees to be paid - if we are interested or
else we will just take a boat trip along Mekong river without stopping at Laos.

Optional tours:

To Laos- 400 Baht/ person
To Myanmar- 1500-2000 Baht/ person

We wanted to go for both but the other group prefer travelling back to Chiang Mai for shopping, hence all of us agreed to go for the Laos tour only. A little disappointed, since we were already there, why not???

Well, at least they agreed on the Laos trip!

044

Golden Triangle Intersection- Mekong River & Kong River

047

A boat trip along Mekong river then to Laos. It's just right across- you can swim across if you would like to.....

045

Chiang Saen Buddha - The Golden Buddha sitting on a man made ship- Love this pic!

048

Welcome to Dan Sao, Laos

049

It's a very small village with stalls selling souvenirs; alcohols and cigarettes. Nothing much to see here, had a drink here and walk around - that's it!

We spent about an hour here and then headed off to Mae Sai.

Wat Rong Khun @ Chiang Rai

Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple is located near the city of Chiang Rai. Wat Rong Khun is another distinctive temple comparing to all the temples I have visited. The other temple would be the Stainless Steel Temple in Haadyai.

Wat Rong Khun, a life time project by an artist known as Chalermchai Kositpipat. The temple was built in 1997 with a concept of interblending the traditional Buddhist and Hindu art with contemporary themes.

041

Wat Rong Khun @ Chiang Rai

The temple is entirely white portraying the purity of Buddha and the white glasses symbolizes the Lord Buddha's wisdom that shines brightly. There are paintings inside the hall with golden tones and on the roof, there are four kinds of animals- The Elephant represents Earth, The Naga stands for water, The swan's wings denotes wind and the lion mane represent fire. Interesting!

Too bad, indoor photo shooting is prohibited!

042

Upon entering the garden, there is a bridge leading to the temple. The bridge illustrates crossing over the cycle of rebirth to Abode of Buddha.

043

Entirely white temple with magnificent carvings and decoration of the with small pieces of mirrored glass are wondrous. The striking white radiance are simply impressive!

Wat Rong Khun is definitely a Must Visit!!

Mae Kajan Hot Springs

We woke up very early the day after as the journey from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai would be about 2-3 hours drive. I was the only one enjoying the scenic journey as everyone else slept through the drive.

On our way to Chiang Rai, we had a stop at Mae Kajan Hot Spring, which is another tourist spot.

038

Mae Kajan Hot Spring

039

There are 3 natural enhanced hot spring well here, each is about 3 meters in width. There is a man made terrain with the natural hot spring water flowing through. The terrain is opened for people to soak their feet.

040

Hungry? Grab a basket here and do the egg boiling work at the natural hot spring.

There is a small market located within the area. A market selling souvenirs, clothing, artworks, rings, jeweleries and wood carvings. You might be interested!

Our journey to Chiang Rai continues.....

Kalare Night Bazaar @ Chiang Mai

Kalare Night Bazaar one of the biggest night market catering tourist trade.

We had a short stroll along the bazaar our dinner, bought a few souvenirs and requested to go back to the hotel.

037

Beautiful and interesting artworks!

DO bargain here! Seems that everything are over priced!

We need a good rest for the trip to Chiang Rai & Laos!

San Kham Pang Village- Home Industries

Our tour continues.... and the afternoon session was all about shopping
at San Kham Pang Village (Home Industries)- there are shops and mini factories line both sides of the Kamphaeng Road, a well known place in Chiang Mai.

We were taken to:

Gem stone manufacturers
Royal Jelly Bee
Bird Nest House

Yea.. only three places, we were running out of time!

036

Had a bowl of this and threw up everything at the shop. Embarrassing enough! I was so not well by noon.....

The other half of the group visited the Zoo and the three of us went for a two hours Thai massage. All good.... but was really tired with the very bad cough and chest pain. I can't even recall what where we had our dinner that night. It was somewhere near the night market along Le Meridian hotel.

Being already there, we walked along the night market for about half an hour, and off to hotel for a good rest!

Tiger Kingdom @ Mae Rim Chiang Mai

A cozy place for the big cats! Tourist are allowed to take pics with the tigers with an admission fee. None of us was interested except for the lunch there!

034

Al fresco dining

035

With perfect view of tigers

Aaahhh... the food was good here! Buffet style lunch- didn't snap any photos as it was quite crowded!
