Perak Food -Lou Wong Tauge Ayam Kuetiau @ Ipoh

Really miss those days when we travel to Ipoh just for food. It was few years back then. As my wistful desire to return to Ipoh for food hits me, I then, planned for a visit.

About Ipoh

Ipoh is the capital of the state Perak Darul Ridzuan in Malaysia. Historically, Ipoh was named after a tree known as Pokok Ipoh. This city is located about 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur, which is between Kuala Lumpur and Penang. A city that has it's fair share of tourist attractions for it's beautiful nature and delicious food!

9.45 pm

We were welcomed with heavy rains and floods but we were not dissapointed though. We reached Ipoh around 8.30 pm and our first stop for dinner after checking in to hotel, is the Bean Sprout Chicken. Initially, we went to Restaurant Ong Kee (tauge ayam) but all the tables were taken and no one was there to served us. After rounding the restaurant, we left and walked over to Restaurant Lou Wong which is much more crowded than Ong Kee but we were entertained! It was raining, and the picture of the shop was only taken on the next day.

Bean Sprouts
I remember the bean sprouts used to be juicy, fat and short. But it isn't the same anymore! Can you see it? It's skinny, long and not so juicy~lol~ Just the same as what we can find it at any other restaurants.

Steamed Chicken
Here comes the steamed chicken, the chicken meat were steamed to tender and served with sesame oil and soy sauce, to be eaten with rice of noodles of your choice. As in Ipoh, it's a city which is popular with sa hor fun (flat rice noodles).

Sa Hor Fun (Flat rice noodles)
The texture of the sa hor fun is perfect and it's slippery and fresh. The chicken broth were thick and delicious but too oily to gulp the whole thing!

Am now wondering, if it is the food served that is not as good as before or am I having bad memories.......as I can remember, it tasted much better few years ago!
