Matsu Sashimi @ RM 88.00
A Japanese dish consisting of very thin bite-size slices of fresh raw fish, traditionally served with soy sauce and wasabi. The word "sashimi" is commonly misinterpreted as slices of raw fish but the real meaning of the word is actually "pierced body". A word derive from the culinary practice of sticking the fish's tail and fin to the slices in identifying the fish being eaten.

Senju Tei serves extremely fresh sashimi- tuna, salmon, white tuna, white fish, sweet shrimp, squid and conch. Love the elegant arrangement and the refreshing taste of the sashimi!

Yam Rice & Pork Meat Soup @ Restaurant Kok Keong

Located at the Historical City of Malacca, Restaurant Kok Keong is one of the old renowned restaurants that serves yam rice with pork meat soup.

Pork meat soup, also known as bak kee in Hokkien is similar to our local famous dish- Bak Kut Teh, a Chinese cuisine popularly served in Malaysia and Singapore.

Ba ki_001

Restaurant Kok Keong @ Jalan Kampung Pantai, Malacca
The restaurant has been serving it's customer for seventy years; now operating by the second generation.

Ba ki_002

Pork Meat Soup (Bak Kee) served with yam rice

Pork meat soup features slices of pork belly, flour dipped thin slices of meat and various offal-y bits in a herbal rich broth accompanied with diner's choice of plain rice or yam rice. Yam rice is a good choice though- Yam was indistinct in the rice, but you wouldn't miss it. Rice texture was perfect, fluffy and satisfying and absolutely blends well with the thick, inky aromatic soup.

Brunching pork meat soup with yam rice on a bright sunny Sunday! A perfect meal before the week ends!

Address:

Restoran Kok Keong,
Jalan Kampung Pantai (one block in from Lorong Hang Jebat)

Operating Hours:

730am-2pm and 6pm until the bak kee runs out

Sam Patissier @ Plaza Mahkota, Malacca/Melaka

It was another hidden gem recommended by my dearest brother and sister in law at Plaza Mahkota in the historical city of Malacca.

Situated right behind the famous Nadeje Patisserie Cafe, Sam Patissier offers a medley range of patisseries with prices that will amaze you!

Sam Pang, formerly from Ritz Carlton, Singapore, brought his incredible patisserie talent and experience back to his home town, Malacca. He also attended FHA2006 Culinary Challenge at Orchard Hotel, Singapore and Macaron Pastry Training in Bangkok, Thailand.

Blood Orange Mille crepe cake
Another unique masterpiece by Sam. Blood orange crepe cake, served frozen or chilled for a different feel for the blood orange jelly layer. Aesthetically pleasing and of course taste bud tantalizing.

And so, now you know where to find gorgeous crepe cakes besides Nadeje Patisserie Cafe.

Strawberry White Chocolate cake
A mercifully lychee with white chocolate cake served frozen. A wonderful choice for a refreshing taste.

SamPartissier_016

Macarons @ RM 2.00 per piece (Lemon, Green Tea, Peppermint & Chocolate)
Although I am not a big fan of macarons, those served here are not too sweet, crispy on the outside and soft and creamy in the inside- pretty satisfying!

Sam Patissier, a gastronomic indulgence not to be missed. Putting aside it's simple set up, the desserts served are made with high quality ingredients and prepared with remarkable passion. Sam was indeed an undiscovered talent, and we believe that his passion, courtesy and sincerity will definitely take his patisseries to the new height.

Thank you, Sam for the wonderful sharing session.
